The Batavian Sessions

In April 2019, the band performed the original composition, “Shelby Swamp Boogie”, as Part 1 of 3, for the launch of a new live performance series , The Batavian Sessions. The first of three videos for the band was shot at Center Street Smokehouse. Neighboring business, Coffee Karma, provided the band with a warm welcome of hospitality and friendship throughout and after the shoot.

Howard Owens of The Batavian, a rockabilly fan, was inspired to start the series after finding and falling in love with a YouTube series, Bopflix. The series showcases the 1940-1960s genre through music videos, live shows and documentaries.

“A” Blues Band kicked off the start of The Batavian Sessions with their live performance, whi and will soon be followed by many other local, talented bands throughout the WNY region.

Original Album...in the works

In 2017 the band started work on their first original full-length album. All five members of the group contributed songs to the recording process and a number of the tunes were saved for a future sophomore release. The currently unnamed album boasts a running tally of 15 original compositions, with songs that were created on-the-spot during tracking and other tunes that were written decades ago with the band breathing new life into the recordings. The album is now in the final stages of overdubbing and mixing with a release expected by midsummer of 2018.

Special Guest at The Cobblestone ...

The band performed with Harmonicist Frank Neil from across the pond Sunday July 1st.  Frank usually plays with "The Terry Burgin Blues Band" back in his homeland of Chester England, however he was in the states to take himself on an "American Tour" while visiting with friends new and old.

He appeared in Medina for one night only and "A" Blues Band had the pleasure of backing his fantastic harmonica playing, Sunday July 1st Live at The Cobblestone hosted by Arthur Barnes Art Studio, 12387 Maple Ridge Road, Medina NY.

Thanks to 810 Meadworks!

"A" Blues Band played for the first time in the outdoor "Bee Garten" located at 810 Meadworks in Medina on Saturday June 16th. It was a much anticipated show for the group and we were able to debut a handful of new original tunes that are included on the upcoming album that has yet to be named. The band couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere and a more beautiful night!

Thanks to everyone of our family members, friends and fans who came out to support us, and thanks again to 810 Meadworks for supplying the sweet nectar and the awesome venue! Oh and Happy belated Fathers Day too!
